World Youth Day Programme

On December 11th 2004 Undugu Family launched a special program for unity and peace as way of enabling the youth in Uganda participate fully in the International World Day of the Youth. The occassion included the launching of the Ark of Noah Program as well as the Undugu Family Christmas festival for Peace. The Ark of Noah Program is a preparatory program towards the World day of the youth meant to be a platform for young people from all over the world and which wants to bring together young people with the same vision of a more just and peaceful world.

The launching festival was attended by more than 750 Undugu family members from different parts of the country and by about a thousand people from Kampala townships. Bishop Robert Gay was the Guest of honor in this festival in which Undugu Family groups presented drama, music, traditional dances, creative dances, poems, speeches and news bulletin on the World Day of Youth.. All of these items were about inclusive unity and peace.

Every Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m Undugu Family runs a workshop geared towards the World Day of the Youth based on the Ark of Noah concept. The workshop is meant to be a platform for young people from all over Uganda, which wants to bring together young people with the same vision of a more fraternal, united, peaceful, prosperous and healthy world. All youth are cordially invited to join us on Saturdays at the Undugu Family Central Office.

The issue of the gender balance and equality between men and women has been strongly and passionately brought to the platform by some of the participating girls as a necessary condition without which we cannot have a truly peaceful, prosperous and healthy family. Each participating group has committed itself to organise programmes that will enable other youth to participate and benefit from the programme.

Undugu Family hopes to send one boy and one girl to Germany to participate in the final programmes of the World Youth Day in July this year.
